Dr. Rajesh Iyer is the Founder of CEPL, a first-generation entrepreneur with a Doctoral Degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Surat and Over 25 years of domain expertise in Teaching, Academic and Industrial Research & Development, Design, Manufacturing, Heavy earthmoving equipments, Waste to Energy and Consultancy services. He has worked extensively in energy sector and specializes in gas engines. At CEPL, he launched India’s first small segment pipeline gas gensets of 3 and 6 kVA, which are on the official vendor list of Gujarat Gas Ltd (GGL) and Gas Authority of India Ltd. (GAIL India).
Dr. Iyer has developed some of the most energy efficient technologies in the gas engines sector that include dedicated CNG engine/bike, biogas engine and producer gas engine technologies inclusive of LPG injection and ethanol blended gasoline engines up to E50. These engines have reversed the trend of how gas engines work. The CNG engine technology could deliver 13% more power and torque compared to gasoline engines with 2X the mileage. This project was a part of the Doctoral Thesis at NIT Surat which was assessed by professors from leading IITs and Foreign Universities, the patent filed in year 2010. The biogas and producer gas engine technologies now have a de-ration factor of 15-20% compared to the 50% values which is a huge achievement in the engine sector where the improvements expected are hardly 5% only.
The wide spectrum of industrial experience includes design of bio-methanation plants, as a Head of R&D for India’s leading OEM for Auto LPG & CNG kits, trained in shop floor support including R & D, Maintenance, Calibration, Validation of Equipment and Instruments, process quality improvement, tools and Fixtures development for developing various Twisting Machines, Pressure Vessels, Engine component and assemblies, As an academician he was a Visiting Professor and I/c Director for some of the leading engineering colleges. He is a registered Ph.D advisor at the Gujarat Technological University and has already guided 4 PhD candidates and has published papers in leading Journals and Conferences.
